The answer is :-<br />Initially there is no need to take any mantra. According to our parampara, we chant Hare Krishna Maha mantra that is "Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare". We do it in japa mala (chanting beads), ordinary japa mala consisting of 108 beads. I myself took diksha mantra after five years of chanting. You can chant 4 rounds, 8 rounds and go on increasing.
